The feature presentation will be given by  Bjorn Hovd, Systems Engineer, Idera over Auditing Considerations: Native SQL 2008 and Third Party Auditing Technologies.  As usual we will have some goodies to give away and food for everyone!

I was working for the datacenter startup CyrusOne at the time. That morning was like any other for me. Finishing my morning routine before heading into work, I was setting on the sofa putting my shoes on watching the news.

As a high availability datacenter we always watched the news for anything out of the ordinary.

CNN was reporting a small plane had hit one of the WTC towers. I jumped up and headed into work. I wasn’t that far away and when I got there it was on all of our monitors in the NOC.

I sat stunned, as most of my co-workers did, when the second plane hit. I turned to my buddy Issac, a veteran of the first gulf war and said we were one step away from laying sheets of glass all over the middle east. He was also very upset and agreed that we were going to stomp someone for sure.

None of us knew what the total impact would be to our country but we all agreed it would change us for a long time to come.

Other than the passing of family members September 11th is the saddest day in my life.

I grieve for those who lost their lives that day, for everyone effected and for everyone who has lost their life or been effected in the wars afterwards.

For the tens of thousands of people effected by the actions of so few, it just shows you the smallest of us wield great power if we so choose.
